What kind of camera can I use for wildlife/animal photos?

I have no idea on what to look for in a camera. Right now I have a crappy 3.1 mega pixel Easy Share from Kodak. It only takes good photos indoors when the sun is bright.

What camera would be good for taking detailed photos of still or moving animals, close or far, and indoors or outdoors?

Only a DSLR will do what you want. Choose from Sony, Pentax, Olympus, Nikon or Canon. Buy a body and a 300mm or 400mm lens for nature/wildlife photography.

Plan on spending a lot of time to READ %26amp; STUDY the Owner's Manual for whatever camera you buy.

Classes in photography would definitely help you to fully understand the use of the camera.

First see my answer to ';Mr Alexx'; Then add to that a search on your part for photography books (library a good source) dealing with animal photography. Most books of this type give information as to the type of equipment used. Try to narrow the scope of your question. Are these animals going to be relatively close or very far. Sounds like at the bear minimum your going to need an ';interchangable lens'; camera like a Canon Rebel for a few hundred $. But as of your question as you pose it-YOU ARE NOT READY PUT YOUR MONEY DOWN. Take it from a pro who has consistently upgraded all my life.

I just read ';Edwin's'; advice! Very good points! Talk to a lot of people, classes will expand your feeling for this even if they are not exactly answering this question for you.
