How do you feel about protecting wildlife and what are the good ways; how can others be involved?

My view is that wildlife should be better protected then it is currently. Some of the contributing factors to diminishing wildlife numbers is, land clearing and de-forestation, polution, invasive species of fauna, introduced species (ferals) and population explosions. This is a short list and im sure it can be expanded.





My view is that there needs to be more public and government involvment in preserving and maintaining wildlife pathways. they are those tracks of land between forests and through populated areas. Also there needs to be more assistance given to farmers to close of areas of there land for wildlife and fauna. Possibly through an incentive. Also farmers should be assisted in the control of invasive weeds and feral species (such as rabbits, foxes, feral cats and wild dogs).





Leading by example is the late Steve Irwin, who bought up great amounts of land for wildlife. The government should perhaps consider the same or at least quarantine some of the land it has currently. This land needs to be fenced and cleared of ferals, followed by removal of invasive fauna. then we might see the re-introduceing of native species.





As for the general public who dont have a rural property, this is how you can help. Clean up Australia day is not the only day you can get out there and do your bit. Next time you take the dog for a walk or take the kids to the local park or river, pick up some rubbish, or place a bird box in one of the trees. Go into your backyard and plant drought tolerant natives, saves water and looks great.





You can also call your local council and ask if there are any environmental projects you can volunteer for. Ultimatly if the whole community is involved we can create and maintain a balanced co-existance with nature.How do you feel about protecting wildlife and what are the good ways; how can others be involved?
build bird houses (eastern blue bird)get youth involved in building,placement and cleaning them,get accompany to donate the supplies to build them


lake or river rehabilitation cleaning up debris(tires shopping carts)get local people involved get a store to donate hot dogs make a BBQ of it


do a vacant lot service clean up plant a butterfly garden/bird garden or even a vegetable garden for a local food bank(get owners permission for the lot)
