I am NOT interested in a vet, trainer, or animal control. Does anyone have any career experience with helping/rehabilitating wildlife? Monkeys for the blind? Anything pertaining to wildlife? Animal research? If so, how do I get started? How do I go about getting a job involved with animals and wildlife?
Volunteer! If you have a zoo nearby ask them if you can shovel s#@t on the weekends. It might open doors for you. Also contact your local forestry service about wounded animals and where they were sent for help. Deer, squirrels, hawks...ect. Good luck! How do I go about getting a job involved with animals and wildlife?
Most good wildlife jobs require one of two things:
You either get a lot of education and voluntary or low-paying experience (research, government, or consultant)
OR
You live off of scraps and any donation someone will give you (rehabilitation, zoos).
There are plenty of good jobs once you have a Master's degree or PhD, but you'll have a very hard time finding anything pernanent unless you have a graduate degree.
If you are desperate to start earning money, apply at a pet store.
