Recommend a good digital camera for wildlife photography?

i know it needs fast shutter speed and good optical zoom. do you know what else a good digital camera would need for wildlife photography? if you know of a good camera, it would be most helpful if you could send me a link to that camera.Recommend a good digital camera for wildlife photography?
I suggest you look at the Fujifilm S range. The S2000HD could be a good option, with 10 megapixels and 15x optical zoom.

You also might want to have a look at this guide for a few tips on wildlife and safari photography.

拢200?, honestly?.. You are not going to get a great wildlife camera for that. As the person below me mentioned, it depends on what type of wildlife shooting you want to do. Whether it's taking snaps of birds in your garden, visiting a zoo or going on safari.

The best you are going to do in that price range is an 'SLR-like' camera such as this..

In good light this (and others like it) will produce great images. I think you are getting confused by 'fast shutter speed'. All cameras have fast shutter speeds!. Do you mean 'frames per second'? if so then you are going to have to invest in a DSLR for a good frame rate and a camera with very little shutter lag (the time it takes from pressing the shutter to taking the picture).

If you are doing a photography course then you are likely going to need an SLR (either digital or film). For 拢200 you are not going to get a DSLR and lens for wildlife photography, it is one of (if not THE most expensive type of photography). You will ideally need a lens in the range of 100-400mm, a good quality lens like this will cost 拢1300 upwards. There are of course cheaper alternatives, but image and build quality is of course poorer.

A photography course will very likely require that you have a fully manual camera with interchangeable lenses. To buy a DSLR with something like a 55-300mm lens you are looking at around 拢300 upwards.

Go into a local Jessops and handle all of the bodies in your price range, they are all as good as each other and all produce stunning images. I will be a little biased though and say that Canon offer some incredible wildlife lenses that are much cheaper than the Nikon equivalent, such as this..

Compact or DSLR?

On location or at a Zoo?

How much do you want to spend?

Any camera will take decent pics.
