What are the biological and hazards of radiation to humankind, the environment, and wildlife?

If you can, put links so that I can verify that your information is true. What are the biological and hazards of radiation to humankind, the environment, and wildlife?
if you really want links, then you might as well do the work yourself. nobody wants to do your work for you.

anyways, my understanding is that radiation affects the molecular structure of cells, in particular the genetic information holder. because the more powerful waves are very small-nanometers distance between wave crests, when they hit large molecule complexes like the dna, they are able to alter them. a change in an organism's dna can change it completely; deadly mutations can occur, and possiably lead to cancer.
