I just started working for them a few days ago and one of these baby squirels is coughing and I can't reach my boss because her phone died. Can anyone help me?I work with a wildlife rescue and this squirrel is coughing?
Well, unfortunately, if he's already ';coughing';, chances are, he's already got some of the formula in his lungs. The only way to prevent it from happening in the future, is to feed them VERY SLOWLY. As for this little guy, there probably isn't anything you can do for him. Just try to keep him as warm as possible, and separate him from any other animals you have just in case it is actually some kind of virus. Don't get your hopes up, hun. Squirrels come and go. There will be hundreds more after him, and pretty soon you'll be used to it. You just have to know that you DID make a difference, even if he passes away. You gave him a second chance.
That's all we can do, sweetie. Hope to give them a second chance. I really hope this information helps you. Hopefully you can get in touch with your boss soon.

I think you should take its temperature rectally. Then give it CPR. Then bring it to a hospital emergency room and see if how they feel about this real emergency.
Try to reach one of the other, more experienced, volunteers.
Did you remember not to feed the squirrel if it was chilled? Did it aspirate any formula?
Here, try to reach another licensed wildlife rehabilitator in your area and get some help. You can find a list here by state: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contact.鈥?/a>
